Visit the Country Mill this Fall

As soon as Fall hits in Michigan the air suddenly turns crisp and all I’m craving are apples. Apple cider, apple pie and caramel apples. One of my favorite things about my Birthday Season is picking apples. This year I went to the family owned and operated Country Mill in Charlotte, Michigan.

I was at the Country Mill a few weeks ago to pick peaches before they went out of season. But as I was there the apples were just coming in, so I got to see the apple overload just beginning.  Pies were being made, donuts in three different flavors were being made fresh daily and the cider you got to pour yourself! The ladies that were making the caramel apples when I was there were so friendly. They even invited me to take more pictures behind the scenes. Everyone that I encountered was just so warm and welcoming. You could tell this was a great family business.

The Country Mill has a big white barn for weddings and events. Behind the barn there is a pathway that leads to the center of the orchard where you can get married! It was gorgeous! I believe the barn is also home to a haunted house closer to Halloween. It looks really fun and exciting for this coming season.

I loved being able to actually pour my own cider, I’ve never been able to do that before.  Let me tell you those donuts were amazing and didn’t last the weekend! The Country Mill is definitely worth the drive! For those of you that like to go to cider mills and apple picking or just a family owned farm; take the drive out and support a small business this fall!

If you were looking for a day trip in Michigan the Country Mill was only an hour drive for me and it’s a perfectly quaint family owned and operated farm. You can pick apples yourself or just buy them. There is a petting zoo with farm animals, hay rides, pumpkins, and a bunch of fall themed fun to kick off the season. I love knowing that this is a small business that is standing strong in the heart of Michigan. I love feeling like I’m supporting our community and it gives a sense of tradition during the fall season. Not to mention gorgeous natural pictures that you can take.
